Grid Partnerships

As the demand for clean energy increases across the United States and around the world, the issue of transmission is becoming increasingly important. Our capacity to build large scale clean energy generation projects is outpacing our ability to get that energy to consumers.

At National Clean Energy Summit 7.0: Partnership & Progress, “The Grid Partnership” Panel will explore the role utility companies play in the development and transmission of clean energy resources, focusing on ways to make the electric grid more robust, resilient and able to accommodate more renewable energy. In addition, the panel will also consider whether current federal and state energy policies are adequate for taking advantage of the nation’s abundant clean energy resources.

The panel boasts a “who’s who” in energy and transmission:

Amory Lovins, Co-founder and Chief Scientist at, Rocky Mountain InstituteThe Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) is a non-profit organization devoted to fostering the efficient and sustainable use of resources. RMI focuses on market-based solutions that can be implemented immediately.

Paul Caudill, President, NV Energy: Recently purchased by Berkshire Hathaway Energy, NV Energy is Nevada’s largest electricity provider serving more than 70 percent of the state.  A driving force in Nevada’s increased transmission capability, NV Energy partnered with LS Power to recently complete One Nevada Transmission Line, or ON Line. ON Line is one of the largest completed transmission projects in recent history as it spans 235miles connecting northern and southern Nevada delivering a 500 kV and approximately 600-800 megawatt electricity backbone.

Patricia Wagner, President and CEO, Sempra U.S. Gas & Power: Sempra U.S. Gas & Power is committed to a low-emission energy model and has 13 wind and solar plants (in development or operational) in eight states with a capacity of nearly 1,800 MW dotted across the United States from California to Ohio.  Efficient transmission is key to Sempra’s business model.
