Announcing the National Clean Energy Summit 8.0: Powering Progress

VISIONARIES UNITE FOR “NATIONAL CLEAN ENERGY SUMMIT 8.0: POWERING PROGRESS” IN LAS VEGAS, AUG. 24

LAS VEGAS — The nation’s foremost clean energy conversation will return to Las Vegas for the eighth year with “National Clean Energy Summit 8.0: Powering Progress” at Mandalay Bay Resort Convention Center Monday, Aug. 24. Clean energy advocates, business leaders, public officials and bipartisan decision makers will assemble this year to converse about how the U.S. continues the advancement of the clean energy economy through innovation, investment and strengthened collaboration.

“I’m very pleased to host the National Clean Energy Summit in Nevada for the eighth year and to continue a constructive dialogue about clean energy progress in our country,” said US Senator Harry Reid. “Discussions like those that take place during the summit have been vital to achieving the rapid expansion of clean energy and innovation in this nation and beyond. We look forward to continuing the momentum this year with a dynamic lineup of speakers and panelists united to bring clean energy issues to the forefront.”

The annual conference is co-sponsored by US Senator Harry ReidCenter for American Progress, the Clean Energy ProjectMGM Resorts International and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. A diverse set of respected policymakers and industry leaders will participate as speakers and panelists in “National Clean Energy Summit 8.0: Powering Progress.” Past speakers at the summit include Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Joe Biden, John Podesta, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Elon Musk and many more. More information about panels and speakers will follow.

“To foster true progress in the future of clean energy will require increased public awareness and education about clean energy issues, along with collaboration among policymakers and investors to take action for change,” said Neera Tanden, president of the Center for American Progress. “Through the development of jobs dedicated to creating improved infrastructure and innovative renewable energy solutions, we’re not only advancing our economy, but also supporting a greater overall quality of life.”

“Over the years the summit has welcomed some of the most innovative business minds and political leaders of our time who, through thoughtful discourse and actionable solutions, have made the summit one of the most visible and productive platforms for the advancement of clean energy in this country,” said Kathleen Drakulich, Board Chair of the Clean Energy Project.

Nevada Clean Energy Champion and owner of the nation's largest rooftop solar array, MGM Resorts International is breaking with other large casino companies and encouraging support for Assembly Bill 206. The bill would raise the amount of electricity Nevada generates from renewable sources to 50% by 2030.
