Clean Energy Project Supports Energy Choice Ballot Initiative
LAS VEGAS (June 2, 2016) – The Clean Energy Project joins forward-thinking Nevada companies like Switch and Tesla in supporting the initiative to open Nevada's markets for greater access to cleaner, more affordable energy. Clean Energy Project’s executive director Jennifer Taylor released the following statement supporting Nevada pursuing an open energy market, which will help spur clean energy economic growth, technological innovation, lower energy prices and increased energy choice.
The Energy Choice Initiative seeks to amend Nevada’s constitution to create competition in the energy market and allow all consumers freedom to choose the source of their electricity, including options for low cost, clean sources of energy such as solar.
“Clean Energy Project supports The Energy Choice Ballot Initiative as it provides an opportunity for all consumers to make thoughtful energy choices including the choice to use clean energy resources such as solar and geothermal, which are abundant and available in Nevada. The Energy Choice Ballot Initiative has the potential to create jobs, increase investment in renewable energy resources, reduce consumer energy costs and once again allow Nevada to set the example for energy innovation in the West.”
“Consumer choice has driven innovations and cost competitiveness in communications, transportation and retail opportunities. Providing consumer choice for powering our homes and businesses creates the opportunity to provide new paths for energy availability, innovation and technology advancement while providing Nevada an opportunity to step forward and strengthen its position as the clean energy leader for the west and nationwide. Through passage and adoption of the Energy Choice Ballot initiative, continued collaboration and partnership with our energy providers and decision-makers, Nevada can take control of its clean energy future.”
